Tale of Nebula Heights

Welcome to ToNH! We're a timeless, boundless roleplay based on a fictional hovering island named Nebula Heights, and we're always looking for new members to expand on the possibilities. ToNH's main plot is sketchy as best - because you are the explorers that will make the plot what it is. The more you explore and have your character interact with the environment, the more likely you'll set the ball rolling on another subplot...

All characters who are currently on the island will hear this once, at whichever time is most convenient. Those sleeping will hear it in their dreams; anyone in a dangerous situation will hear it when they are safe again. You don't need to copy it out in your post, though you can if you want to.

"Greetings, strangers, and welcome to Nebula Heights. My name is Phasma. Thank you to those who discovered my temple; in locating the Awakening orb, you have taken the first step towards revitalising this world. Your purpose is as yet unknown to you, but you would do well to continue making life force tributes at this altar. It is your choice whether or not to trust me. Until I regain the energy that has faded over the years, and my powers over this world reawaken, I will remain dormant. Good luck to you."

As with the general rules, enforcement isn't entirely rigid or strict. But if you follow the rules, we'll all get on just fine.

  • Try to take turns. P1, P2, P3, P1, P2... etc. This will make it fairer on those who can't get online to post as often as others, so they won't get left behind in the roleplay.
  • No godmoding/powerplaying. This means you're playing as if your character is super-powerful and can destroy everyone in one hit before they have a chance to react. There are many tutorials on how to avoid this all over the internet, so if you're unsure, a quick Google search will probably educate you on the matter.
  • A three-line paragraph at minimum, please! Most sites request a lot more than this, but for the purpose of making it easier for everyone, three lines is all I ask. On the other hand, if you want to post a heck of a lot more, go ahead! More is usually better, as it gives other users more things for their characters to react to. If you're not used to this, don't worry! It gets far easier as you post more.
  • ON THE OTHER HAND... CANON CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME! Copycat characters are annoying because everyone can see the resemblance... but the canon characters they're copying from are great for exactly that reason. If you feel you want to roleplay as a TV show/game/book character, make an application for them! Just make sure no one else claimed them first. Also, if you want to use a canon character, make sure you can roleplay well as that character. For example, having Kirby or Top Cat (lolwat shut up I couldn't think of anyone) go on a massive killing spree is ridiculously out of character. There are better examples... xD But basically, stay in-character. It's especially important for canon characters, because people want to be able to recognise an action as being something that character would do. For non-canon characters, it helps other users to find your character memorable!
  • If your character is a species from an existing canon but is otherwise their own personality (for example, a Kirara from Inuyasha or a Pikachu from Pokemon) then that's also perfectly fine. You're allowed to take liberties with their designs, too (black and red Pikachu, anyone?) but just make sure you don't go overboard on the visual design and end up forgetting their personality altogether.
  • OBEY THE WORLD PHYSICS! If you fly off in one direction, you will come out of the mist on the other side of the map. If you fall into the mist below the island, you will fall out of the sky and into the Central Lake. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the mist physics, as with anything else stated on the World Physics page, unless otherwise stated there. If you're not sure, consult an admin (preferably me!).
