Welcome to ToNH! We're a timeless, boundless roleplay based on a fictional hovering island named Nebula Heights, and we're always looking for new members to expand on the possibilities.
ToNH's main plot is sketchy as best - because you are the explorers that will make the plot what it is. The more you explore and have your character interact with the environment, the more likely you'll set the ball rolling on another subplot...
Season: Summer

All characters who are currently on the island will hear this once, at whichever time is most convenient. Those sleeping will hear it in their dreams; anyone in a dangerous situation will hear it when they are safe again. You don't need to copy it out in your post, though you can if you want to.
"Greetings, strangers, and welcome to Nebula Heights. My name is Phasma. Thank you to those who discovered my temple; in locating the Awakening orb, you have taken the first step towards revitalising this world. Your purpose is as yet unknown to you, but you would do well to continue making life force tributes at this altar. It is your choice whether or not to trust me. Until I regain the energy that has faded over the years, and my powers over this world reawaken, I will remain dormant. Good luck to you."

Re: Sparks in the dark
"Fiiiiine" Crewe groaned, taking hands out of his pockets and rushing after Tao and Pichu. Smirking a little as he caught up, he overtook Tao and ran ahead of him, turning his head back, "What are you waiting for?" He asked childishly teasing him as he focused again on running, keeping slightly behind Pichu as not to trip her up.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Pichu's ears bobbed comically atop her head as she twisted her neck slightly to see behind her, still running. Upon realising that Crewe was gaining on her, she let out a cry of "Pi-piii!" and put on a burst of speed, trying to outrun him. It seemed she had recovered from her little episode in the dark now that she had two tall people on her side, and was now regarding the whole thing as a game.
The sparks that lit the way abruptly stopped, however, as the ground ran out and she plunged forwards into icy-cold water with a brief squeak of surprise and an echoing splash. Bubbles broke the surface shortly before her head, and she bobbed there for a short while in the dark, mulling over this recent development with a great deal of frustration.
{ I'll let you decide the nature of the water and the room it's in. }

Re: Sparks in the dark
Tao laughed and used his long legs to their fullest potential, loping past Crewe with an easy smile. He didn't expect the sudden edge, either, however, and plunged into the icy water.
He blinked rapidly, eyes adjusting to the changed light. He saw Chu paddling to stay afloat. He turned to look below him: the water seemed to go on forever.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe let out a shrill "Woah!" as he saw Pichu then Tao dissappear down into the darkness, thinking quickly, he propelled up using his wings and flapped above the water. The room was dark, but his eyes adjusted to the sheen of the water allowing him to see Pichu and Tao. Folding his arms, he sighed thankfully for not falling in, looking around the room, it was giant, so much water it scared him. "You guys okay?" He asked, flapping above them.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Pichu glanced down at the cold water surrounding her thoughtfully, and spat out some of it with a distasteful expression. With a flurry of splashing paws, she clumsily improvised a kind of ineffective doggy-paddle and made it back to the shore, heaving herself onto the rocky platform and shaking herself roughly.
The thought that perhaps the others hadn't fared quite as well suddenly appeared in her mind and she stared wide-eyed out at the lake.
"TAO!! CREWE!!" she shrieked loudly. Apparently, practise (and panic) had enabled her to learn to form the unfamiliar vowels and consonants of her two new friends' names. She felt pretty proud of herself, despite the worry that they might have fallen in the water.

Tao swam quickly to shore when he heard Chu's cry, though he would've liked to look around down there a bit more. He didn't pull himself all the way out of the water, just rested his head and arms on the rocky ledge. "Gills." He pointed the little slits on his neck out to the terrified little mouse with a small smile.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Tao flinched as Pichu screamed their names, nearly falling in the water himself. "Bloody hell!" He cursed, flapping to the side and landing further on ground than Pichu and Tao. Turning, he stepped back towards them and crouched down. "We're here, calm down!" He explained, flopping back to sit on the ground, crossing his legs.

Re: Sparks in the dark
"Tao," came a satisfied response as Pichu saw her friend swim up unharmed. She had never seen gills before, and had no idea what they did... but the way Tao seemed to refer to them as though they were helpful, she decided they probably were.
"Crewe?" And there was the other one. She flashed a huge smile and bounced up and down, sparking wildly. "Crewe-Tao-Crewe-pichu!" ...And it all became a game once more.

Re: Sparks in the dark
"Where are we?" Tao turned to look at the underground pool. He hadn't seen any fish or anything when he was underwater, but he was so far from the bottom, it was unlikely that he would have seen anything anyway. The ceiling was high, and stalactites hung down in thin spires. They dripped down into the pool slowly but steadily, creating an echoing rhythm that was both peaceful and disturbing. "Weird..." Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe placed his hands behind him on the cool floor, leaning back to try and make out the spiracles above. "I dunno" He replied, "You see anything down there?" He asked, motioning to the water, guessing that if Tao could see in the dark, he could see dark underwater too. The thought of the water, and the large amount of it from what he saw, and also that it was completely dark to him, was not very tempting to Crewe, he could have blamed the pair for bringing him down here out of fear, but held his tongue. He had proper friends now, he wasn't going to risk losing them because he was scared.

"No, too deep." He could tell that Crewe was scared of something, but he couldn't for the life of him figure out what. The only things here were rocks and water, and water was just far too amzing to be afraid of. The rock didn't seem to bug him, since he was sitting on it, but what else was there...? "You okay?" He turned to look at Crewe.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Meanwhile, a young yellow electric mouse was having fun experimenting with her new-found linguistic talents. "Pichu, Crewe, Tao... y-chu. You?" She glanced down at the water and then up at Tao. Yes. He would know. He seemed to like the stuff. "Tao! Pichupi pi pichu?" She pointed at the water questioningly, hoping to learn more of this strange new language that the tall people spoke.
Re: Sparks in the dark
"I'm fine" Crewe replied, looking away from Tao at the ground. His ear's twitched as Pichu spoke to herself, before to Tao, "I think she wants you-" He said, pointing at the darkness where he could hear Pichu from, being able to slightly see her yellow fur in the dimness. His tail limply flicked from side to side, whirling a charade of dust as it did.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Tao turned to Chu with an inquisitive look and followed her pointing arm to the water. "What about the water?" He didn't really register that Chu had said words, real, complete words. He just knew that he couldn't understand the question.

Re: Sparks in the dark
"Pichu pi pichu pipi? Pichu!" She stamped her foot in irritation, annoyed that no one could understand her - but this was what she was going to try and deal with now, right?
First things first. Objects. Nouns.
"Pichu," she said, pointing at herself. Then she pointed at Crewe. "Crewe." Then at Tao himself. "Tao..." Finally, she pointed at the water and she looked up at Tao questioningly. "...Pi?"

Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe watched from behind Tao, none the wiser to what she was getting at, but hey, he was never the sharpest tool in the box. Pushing himself onto his knees, he slowly stood up and brushed the dirt from his knees. Well, the dirt he thought was on his knees, he wasn't exactly sure if there was any to begin with but it seemed like a casual thing to do, it also made him look busy for if Tao asked him for help on what Pichu was doing.

Re: Sparks in the dark
"Oh... Pichu." Tao nodded slightly at Pichu. "Water. Wa-ter." He swam in a little circle before returning to the bank. "That what you wanted?" Something nudged against his dangling tail curiously. He didn't notice other than to twitch away slightly.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Pichu nodded vigorously. "Pichu pi-chu." She brought her face down close to the water and smiled brightly at it. Now, if she used what she'd learnt from her friends' names... "Crew-wuh. Wu-tao. Wah..." This was harder than she'd thought, but she refused to give up. After much thinking, she finally blurted out, "Waturr! Water water water, Pichu-pi!" Pichu began joyously bouncing from foot to foot. She was learning a lot from these new friends!
"Crewe! Pichu, pipi chupichu! Water!"
"Crewe! Pichu, pipi chupichu! Water!"
Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe smiled, much impressed by Pichu's language growing. "Well done~" He praised, leaning down to pat her on the head before stretching up and lifting his hands above his head to finalise the stretch, letting out a strange yawn before crossing his arms. "You're a quick learner! It took me ages of listenin' to people around me to learn. I didn't learn fully till I was 6 aparantly" He explained, tilting his head a little to scratch it. "I'm just stupid t'is all" He laughed, ruffling his hair.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Tao didn't much care about Pichu's progress, though he guessed that it was kind of important to her. Something nudged his foot from below the water. He noticed this time and wrapped his tail around the thing quickly. He slipped his head into the water to see what he had.
He relaxed significantly when he saw that it was only a piece of wood and let it drift away.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Pichu smiled widely at Tao and nodded emphatically. She was proud of herself, that much was clear. "Pichu!"
She glanced back at Tao, who had suddenly plunged his head underwater. "Tao! Tao? Pipii?" Her tail bobbed up and down as she leant over the edge of the water in an attempt to make herself heard. "Pichuuuu!?"

Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe quickly stepped forwards, leaning down to pick up Pichu, fearing she may have fallen off the edge. "Woah, watch it!" He warned harshly, holding her up for a second as he watched to see what Tao was doing. "He can breathe under the water!" He explained, inhaling and exhaling loudly to emphasise his point. "He's probably just looking at something."

Re: Sparks in the dark
Tao poked his head out of the water again, unaware of the minor chaos he had caused. "Just wood," he muttered. Then he looked up at Crewe and Pichu. "What's wrong?"

Re: Sparks in the dark
Pichu waggled her front paws in Tao's direction as she was lifted up, clearly distressed, but seemed to calm down as Crewe explained the situation. She still brightened up as Tao broke the surface again, however.
"Pichu! Water Taochu!" She giggled childishly and stopped trying to break free of Crewe's grip, instead relaxing a little and settling into his arms. "Pii. Brii. Breef?" she experimented. Apparently she hadn't quite managed to get her tongue around the soft 'th' sound yet.

Re: Sparks in the dark
Crewe looked around Pichu to see Tao, instantly smiling as his hypothesis was right. He then turned his attention back to Pichu, his smile breaking into a grin as she tried to copy him. "Breeeeathe" He said, extending his mouth largely to try and get the point across of how to pronounce it. He then finished off by showing her some more breathing actions.
