Welcome to ToNH! We're a timeless, boundless roleplay based on a fictional hovering island named Nebula Heights, and we're always looking for new members to expand on the possibilities.
ToNH's main plot is sketchy as best - because you are the explorers that will make the plot what it is. The more you explore and have your character interact with the environment, the more likely you'll set the ball rolling on another subplot...

All characters who are currently on the island will hear this once, at whichever time is most convenient. Those sleeping will hear it in their dreams; anyone in a dangerous situation will hear it when they are safe again. You don't need to copy it out in your post, though you can if you want to.
"Greetings, strangers, and welcome to Nebula Heights. My name is Phasma. Thank you to those who discovered my temple; in locating the Awakening orb, you have taken the first step towards revitalising this world. Your purpose is as yet unknown to you, but you would do well to continue making life force tributes at this altar. It is your choice whether or not to trust me. Until I regain the energy that has faded over the years, and my powers over this world reawaken, I will remain dormant. Good luck to you."

The Temple
Huge, carved stone pillars decorate the outside of the temple. The room inside is pretty much open to the air, though a roof over the pillars keeps it relatively sheltered from the elements. In the centre of the spacious, open room is a single altar - a wide sandstone bowl on an intricately-carved pillar at about the chest height of an average human. Otherwise, the place is pretty bare, save for the curling designs all over the carved pillars around the room.

Temple Garden
At the northernmost edge of the island, just behind the temple, a mass of colourful flowers of all shapes and sizes have made the ground into a colourful patchwork that much resembles a close-up view of an impressionist painting. A few useful herbs grow here, but they're fairly scarce, too choked by the vibrant flowers to be found easily.

Guardian Tree
This huge, ancient tree stands tall above the lush, green grass of the field just to the west of the temple. Near its eastern roots is an oddly new-looking wooden hatch in the ground, accentuated by a gold handle. This appears to be locked, but there are occasional scuffling noises coming from beneath it. This area has a desolate feel.

The Fountain
At the T-intersection of the uneven paved road, a single structure stands alone in the very centre. A small, circular bowl of granite, with another smaller one in the middle, spouts crystal-clear water that spills over the smaller basin and into the larger one. This seems to have been built over a spring of some sort, as there is no advanced plumbing to be seen. The water is refreshing and safe to drink, and this could be viewed as the meeting point for the small 'village'.

Main Street
For those in houses or milling about in the street. A handful of perfectly-aligned yellowish stone structures sit clustered to the western edge of the floating island. Each building has a flat roof, and each level has a ladder to the next floor up; each floor consists of a single large, bare room with two basic square windows at every wall. One could almost imagine these are just waiting for sentients to live in them... but the mystery of who built it all remains untouched.

The Lake
The lake here is clear and sparkling, filled with interesting water-plants and the occasional glimmer of tiny fish. On most days, the water is calm and the atmosphere relaxing. Due to its shallow banks, though, it may often flood the surrounding area after bad weather, turning the pathway nearby into an unpleasant bog.

The Gazebo
What appears to be a bandstand or gazebo stands on stilts in the middle of the lake. Oddly, its floor is made of wood, whereas the main structure is sturdy yellowish brick, like the majority of other buildings on the island. Although small and not accommodating for more than five human-sized objects at once, the wall-mounted stone seats around the inside of the gazebo make it a pleasant, quiet place to meet, or to just sit and think.

The Forest
Although sunlight must first filter down through the leafy canopy before it reaches the ground, the dappled patches of gold are apparently enough for many herbs, mushrooms and the occasional flower to grow amongst the leaf litter and roots. As well as being a good place to forage for healing herbs, nuts and mushrooms, this forest is also the only place on the island that harbours wild animals (apart from the fish in the lake). Tiny birds flit between the branches of the trees, shelter amongst the roots during heavy winds, and generally make the occasional melodic chirp to keep the forest from being entirely silent.

Meadow
When a casual explorer makes their way south-east in the forest, they may come across this meadow. Wedged between the trees and the sheer cliff, it is nonetheless a pretty piece of scenery. This meadow mainly consists of potent herbs and tall grasses. While in the shadow of the forest, the sunlight occasionally hits the western edge over the top of the trees. This meadow is always warm and relaxing in good weather.

The Mines
On the outside, the grass is sparse and the ground becomes harder as the rock layer rises to the surface. A network of caves spreads out downwards from the simple, unassuming cave entrance; lanterns are hung every so often along the walls as the corners add up and the sunlight can no longer reach the tunnels.
